"Optional in-game purchases?" Thank God for that. And there was me worrying that they'd be adding microtransactions!
Misleading article title. I came here to see if there was a way to record a gameplay video for longer than 5 minutes ON the Xbox One (hdd). This is telling you to record to Twitch which is a solution but it is not ON the XBO.
Silly for Kotaku UK to include Crackdown in the list when it will only be the multiplayer beta that is being released this year. We don't say that Uncharted 4 was released in 2015 because of the multiplayer beta from December.

I'm not sure how much the author knows about PlayStation. The list includes too many games that have had a HD release on PS3. Sony would not be likely to use their limited resources to adapt PS2 games that are out on PS3 and PS Now for cheaper, with updated controls and in bettter quality.
@OutsideOfTheBox. Technically PSVR is a peripheral but Sony have repeatedly said they are treating it as a brand new platform (that requires a PS4).
The Kinect for Xbox 360 was priced to be affordable which Microsoft did because they ideally wanted all owners to buy it - this was a peripheral, an add-on to the core experience. PSVR is such a different way to experience games and a specialist interest product (not mainstream) it requires the financial outlay of a new product. ...
It's the revised Xbox One / Xbox One Slim.
Yes it's always better to delay a game for quality control purposes. But such a big delay is significant. It means the either they were never going to hit 2016 but pressure from Microsoft made them give that date at the reveal. Or their have been major problems with the development. Colin Moriarty said on one of his podcasts that he thinks Platinum Games are spreading themselves too thin because they are developing multiple games. Fingers crossed the final product is good.
Troll title.
When you say one console beats another three holiday seasons in a row it means it is referring to sales in one way or another. So to see that this is an opinion piece is a big cheat.
What Spencer means is that Microsoft's Azure server backbone service is available to corporate customers, in the same way that Amazon's corporate cloud services power many big businesses.
But the fact that Spencer says Xbox app on OSX is possible underlines Satya Nadella's vision of being platform agnostic by providing Microsoft services to as many people as possible.
Rise of the Tomb Raider has been a critical hit lauded as superior to the first in the rebooted series. Ignore the VGChartz speculation, the poor chart placement and Microsoft's reluctance to share sales figures is very telling and gives us more honest clues about the sales performance.
The most disappointing thing about this deal is that it could scupper any chance of a third game.
@die_fiend. You have to remember that Paul Thurrott has spent years reporting on Microsoft. he personally knows most of their senior staff and he is always privy to inside information. It was through him that MS revealed their Xbox One reveal in April 2013 would be delayed by a month to make adjustments (but he held back some of the details). So Paul's bread and butter comes from being a Microsoft insider that is a relationship he will want to maintain.
Damn! Well Hideo Kojima and PlayStatiion have an entwined history so this is a logical but still epic move. Kojima is free to create something completely new, I expect it is a game he has been envisioning of for many years. I can't wait to see what it is (it will be mega troll lols if it is a little indie platformer!) But seriously this could be amazing - and snagging Kojima is such a big boon for Andrew House and a vote of confidence for the PlayStation platform.
I think it might mean that after the PS4 exclusivity window FFVII Remake will come to Nintendo NX.
@MazzingerZ. I totally agree. Whilst some games are ruined by the kiddies or rude racists etc, it's not always the case and you can be mixed in with some decent people who you can go on to play a few games with. I prefer for developers not to do a Nintendo and turn off the option completely, instead give us a choice and a mute option!
"What’s worse is that a lot of people who do use in-game chat do it in the most annoying ways. Whether it is because Kinect is picking up sound or it’s coming through their headset microphone, some people make the audio stream an annoyance."
I have to give kudos to Xbox Enthusiast for being honest about the issue and not pretending everything is rosy. The problem of Kinect audio is real and the abundance of kids stupid singing is just off-putting. Maybe in the USA ...
The Xbox One is selling proportionately well in the USA, Canada, Brazil and to a lesser extent the UK. However there are many European, African, Middle Eastern and Asian territories where it is not. Add into this Microsoft have said they will no longer reveal Xbox One console unit sales. So one would expect total sales figures of PS4 to be more than double.
I think the writer misses the point. Of course these classic PS2 games look amazing when up-ressed to 1080p with added graphical effects. But the whole process requires file searching setup and settings adjustment. Of course this is not an issue to a PC gamer but most console owners use them precisely because they are plug in and play and can use PS4 features like Share Play and trophies. But it's good that there are different solutions for everyone!
This disproved story again - let it go!
"Phil Spencer "would be happy" to see Nintendo games on Xbox One."
Ha! Of course he would be happy! So would Sony. But as long as Nintendo are still in the hardware game it doesn't mean it will ever happen. It is also implicitly rubbishing Nintendo's hardware sales and implies that Nintendo will be doing a Sega -which I disagree with.
Minecraft - good!
Porn - good!
But mixing them together? I can't even... I don't understand... why.... well I...
I'm not a kid anymore but is there really people who get turned on by the Lego-style proportions of Minecraft characters? It takes all sorts!
